Texas de Brazil

Last night I took John to one of his favorite restaurants for an early birthday dinner. We went to Texas de Brazil, a Brazilian steakhouse that features incredible service and an all-you-can-eat fabulous dining experience.

The food is always amazing, but the two stand outs last night were the Lobster Bisque and the Flank Steak! Yummm! Did I mention that the meat is served on skewers by men carrying large knives? I think that's why John likes it so much...and because they only serve top of the line meat. Filet, filet wrapped in bacon, flank steak, top sirloin, parmesan crusted chicken, pork ribs, brazilian sausage, to name a few.

If you've never been there before, you should definitely go. It's worth the trip...and the money. :)

Dining in style

This weekend, our friends gave us this Bronx Run 5-pc dining set....and we love it! It's pretty much exactly what John wanted - counter height pub table, black finish, comfy chairs. And for me - foot rests. :) It is going to look great with our color scheme in the kitchen, which is going to be black cabinets, white counter tops and a khaki color on the walls. Woo Hoo! We are very excited to set this up in our new house.

A Day in the Snow

Over Christmas, John and I went to California to visit my family. We had a great time! Since John has lived in Florida his whole life, he had never seen snow in person...until now :)

My dad and I took John up to the Sierra Mountains. My grandparents own a cabin up there.

And this is the river that runs behind the cabin...

John had so much fun!! We made snow angels and had a snow ball fight. My dad won, of course. :)

Then we cruised up to Lake Tahoe and had lunch.

It was the best day to go up to the snow. It was gorgeous weather and crystal clear! John says that this trip to California was his favorite so far. :)

It's a New Year

Flickr: Kassa

This year I decided to be better about birthday cards. My friend got me this really cool calendar (with no year on it) so that I only have to write birthday's down once. You know it's so hard to remember to transfer important dates to next year's calendar...so this is a great solution to that. Well, I decided to take it one step further. I'm going to purchase all my birthday cards for the year at one time (like, soon). And then I'm going to keep them in an accordian file folder separated by month. At the beginning of each month, I'll write the birthday cards for that month and then send them out so they aren't late. I'm so excited about my idea...now I just have to purchase the cards, stamps, file folder...

Flowers

Searching the internet has become one of my favorite pasttimes...especially when it comes to finding inspiration for the wedding. Here are some arrangements and fillers that I really like...

Inspired

I've been dreaming a lot lately about decorating. John and I are in the process of buying a condo. It's very exciting! It's a blank slate and I can't wait to decorate it. I've been scouring the internet looking at pictures and colors and furniture and DIY projects. I was so inspired that I decided to paint my bedroom furniture...which will ultimately end up in the guest room. It used to be just regular oak wood, so I sanded it down and painted it a fresh white (Behr "Swiss Coffee"). It looks so good! It looks like a brand new piece. And the white paint makes the black handles really pop. Right now I've only done the nightstand (you know, to make sure I liked it). Next it's on to the headboard and the dresser. I'll post before-and-after pictures when it's all done.
